Description of the variety:

DUKE F1 is a hybrid from the variety segment resistant to Turnip Jaundice Virus (TuVY).

It brings together many features that positively affect the height and reliability of yield. A variety characterized by very good health. Perfect Combination of Features: 2 in 1 - Double Disease Resistance:

viral - TuYV turnip jaundice resistance gene

fungi - RLM 7 dry rot resistance gene

In the case of the DUKE F1 variety, the already known RLM7 gene was introduced - resistance to dry rot (Phoma lingam). The dry rot of brassica is a significant threat to the cultivation of rapeseed. The spore stage is formed in autumn on crop residues. In order to reduce the pressure of the disease, it is worth paying attention to proper rotation, and the leftover crop residues should be deeply plowed. The fight against self-seeding is also important. In the autumn, the spores are transferred from the fruiting bodies on the crop residues to the young plants. Then the ascospores germinate, which is favored by higher temperature and air humidity. The secondary source of infection are pycnidia, i.e. black spots on light brown or beige oval spots at the site of infection, which release conidial spores. The leaf fungus grows through the petiole to the root neck and grows to the base of the stem. Infection can occur through the spores of two fungi Leptosphaeria maculans (dangerous in the western part of Poland) and Leptosphaeria biglobosa.

DUKE F1 can be grown in medium and very good soil. The variety is tolerant to periodic droughts, it has a very important feature - high resistance to shell cracking and seed scattering (under shatter resistance). This ensures protection of the crop in the event of unfavorable weather conditions and extends the period of optimal harvest up to 7-9 days. Recommended for growing in regions with high pressure from aphids (TuYV vectors). Medium height plants, resistant to lodging and easy to thresh. DUKE F1 starts flowering early and matures early.
