Opis produktu

Sweet clover grows up to 1 m. One- or two-year-old plant.

Tap roots, but branched. Stems straight or ascending, highly branched, thin, naked, lively green with small stripes, alternately leafy. Compound leaves, trifoliate, with leaves with 6-13 pairs of veins, dark and naked on top, short hairy, paler below. Bracts present, entire edges, heavily hairy. Inflorescences in the form of clusters hanging from long peduncles. Single, sulphur-yellow, papilionaceous flowers composed of a calyx and a corolla. The calyx is ciliated, with 5 unequally deeply cut denticles. The crown is sulfur-yellow, with a short boat and a sail and wings of the same length. Inside the yellow flower there is one bare pistil, mounted on a characteristic stem, and ten stamens. Nine of these stamens thread together into a tube, one remains free and naked.

The fruit is a small (3-4 mm), naked, laterally wrinkled, elliptical pod containing 1 or 2 seeds. The seeds are inconspicuous, usually yellow-green, rarely with purple stripes.

In

Yellow sweet clover grows best on moist and loose soils, in places that are heavily exposed to sunlight.

Sowing 18-25 kg/ha, 30-40 cm apart. The plant is valued for its good growth on barren, stony, sandy, degraded soils, in frost reservoirs, where other small-seeded legumes and noble grass varieties froze.

Cultivated for green manure, especially for root crops. Currently, yellow melilot is increasingly sown in areas contaminated with dioxins for soil phytoremediation. It also strengthens slopes, embankments and ditches well.
