Latin white mulberry Morus alba is a deciduous tree from the mulberry family (Moraceae), originating from China. It began to be cultivated in Europe around the 11th century. In practice, it is the only species of mulberry that occurs in Poland. Apart from the leaves, the most desirable raw material is the white mulberry fruit. The light-colored dried fruits of this plant resemble the shape of blackberries or raspberries. They usually taste sweet, sometimes slightly sour. These fruits are widely used in medicinal preparations, mainly due to their properties in lowering blood sugar levels.
