A strongly branching annual plant. It produces purple or white wide flowers from which it is very easy for bees to collect nectar. It is characterized by toothed leaves. It emits a pleasant but quite intense scent that has a soothing effect on bees. The honey yield of a beekeeper is 200-400 kg/ha, depending on the conditions in which it grows. It is not demanding in terms of soil. In the perfume and soap industry it is valued for its essential oils - citral.
