Application
The product is intended for mulching the surfaces around ornamental plants in gardens, squares and flower beds. In this way, water is retained in the soil for longer and the soil is free from erosion. The bark layer also serves as thermal insulation, protecting plant roots against overheating and freezing. In addition, the bark limits the growth of weeds and is a perfect complement to the arrangement of a garden, e.g. a naturalistic one.
Composition and properties
The product is made from sorted bark of Pinus maritima coniferous trees, originating from southwestern Europe. Due to its natural hardness, this bark remains viable longer. It contains very little bast and wood.
Fraction: 60 - 120 mm
Volume: 70 L
Advantages
Maintains moisture in the soil. The bark allows rainwater to seep freely, while at the same time causing the water accumulated in the soil to evaporate much slower. The bark layer maintains a constant level of moisture and prevents the soil from drying out in dry and hot periods.
Ensures stable soil temperature. The bark serves as thermal insulation. In winter, it increases the temperature of the top layer of soil, and in summer it maintains a lower temperature. Thanks to these properties of the bark, the risk of plant roots freezing or overheating is reduced.
Eliminates weeds because the bark layer does not allow light to reach the soil, and weed growth is limited.
Protects the soil against erosion. Bark mulch stabilizes the structure of the substrate. Essential nutrients are not rapidly washed out of the substrate during heavy rain. The negative impact of water and wind on the soil is also reduced.
How to use
1. Mark the area to be covered with bark
2. Thoroughly clean it of weeds
3. Moisten the soil with water if it is dry
4. Spread the bark on the prepared surface in a 6-8 cm thick layer. A 70 L bag is enough to cover an area of approximately 1 m². Note: The bark should not touch the stems or trunks of cultivated plants, as this could contribute to their rotting.
Recommendations
Bark is a material of natural origin, so it may contain specific organisms
The bark was not chemically or thermally disinfected. It is recommended to work with gloves. Use in a well-ventilated place. Avoid inhalation of dust. Before use, make sure that the product can be used safely, especially if you are prone to allergies.
