General purpose variety, intended for dry seeds.
Advantages
- A variety with a good combination of utility features
- High seed and protein yield potential
- The variety suppresses weeds well, making it ideal for organic farming
- Good resistance to lodging
- High uniformity of ripening
Characteristic
A variety of field pea registered in Poland in spring 2017. Astronaute pea seeds are yellow in color and have a medium high protein content.
This variety is characterized by a low content of anti-nutritional substances in the seeds (low trypsin inhibitor activity), which favors their use for nutritional purposes. Moreover, the variety has average tolerance to soil acidification, which allows it to be used also in weaker locations.
It is characterized by high yield potential - both seeds and protein.
Astronaute is characterized by high resistance to diseases and quite good resistance to lodging.
A pea variety highly resistant to fungal diseases: powdery and downy mildew, pea ascochyta and serious root diseases.
In order to reduce losses related to seed cracking, it is recommended to harvest at a seed moisture content of 16 to 18%.
Sowing date
From mid-March - as early as possible, depending on local soil conditions
Seeding density
Optimal sowing: 100-120 seeds/m²
Sowing depth
Light soils: 6 cm
Heavy soils: 4 cm
Fertilization
N fertilization: 20 kg before sowing (including mineral N)
PKMg fertilization: 40-60 kg/ha P2O5; 100-130 kg/ha K2O; 20-50 kg/ha MgO
Microelement fertilization: depending on needs, in combination with plant protection products.
Plant protection
Before sowing, it is recommended to use a fungicide and to constantly check the appearance of pests (e.g. spinner beetle and thrips). The use of fungicide improves the health of plants in early spring - gray mold and ascochyta.
Set
At seed moisture of 14-16%. Very good solvency.
