Seed breeding: PHR
Iskra wheat is characterized by high adaptation to various soil conditions and various locations. Thanks to this, its yield was very high and stable throughout the country. The grain yield from the 2022 harvest at the a1 level was 107% of the standard, and at the a2 level 105% of the standard. It is a variety with a high falling number, good protein content and good rheological parameters. It has ripe and uniform grains with a high hectoliter weight. Perfect for milling purposes. The quality parameters of this wheat are very high, and many of them were assessed at the stage of registration tests in COBORU at the level of elite and quality wheat. The plants are short, have a height below the standard and are very resistant to lodging in the phase of full maturity and milk maturity. They are also distinguished by very high straw stiffness. Iskra has a very good health profile against all diseases. The variety has genes for resistance to powdery mildew and brown rust.
Special features of Iskra winter wheat
- Very high resistance to fungal diseases (genes for resistance to powdery mildew and brown rust).
- Rht8 semi-dwarf gene - the highest resistance to lodging in the phases of full maturity and milk maturity.
- Luxurious and even grain with a high hectoliter weight.
Additional information
- Highly adaptable to various soil conditions and diverse locations.
- Very high and stable level of yield throughout the country - grain yield from the 2022 harvest at the level A1 - 107% of the standard, at the level A2 - 105% of the standard.
- Very high quality parameters of grain - many of them were assessed at the stage of registration tests in COBORU at the level of elite wheat.
- Insensitivity to chlorotoluron.
- Medium-early variety, with good tolerance to soil acidification.
- Perfect for milling purposes.
- High falling number, good protein content and good rheological parameters.
- Low plants with very stiff straw.
- Very good health profile for all diseases.
- It grows very well.
- In our own experiments, testing different plant numbers and reducing the sowing amount did not significantly reduce yields. This may be important for reducing sowing costs.
