Opis produktu

Application

Garden peat is a raw material for preparing substrates intended for amateur plant cultivation. Peat-based substrates can be used for growing vegetables, ornamental plants, as well as for establishing and regenerating lawns.

Moreover, garden peat is used to improve the structure of poor or depleted soil. Peat provides humus, retains water in the topsoil, loosens the structure of heavy soils, and increases the cohesion of light soils. Regular use of peat guarantees improvement in the physical, biological, and chemical properties of the soil.

The product can be used as an additive to composts.

Usage Instructions

Preparing the substrate

  • Remove the peat from the packaging and loosen it.
  • Prepare other substrate components, such as fertilizer, bark, compost, in amounts adjusted to the expected substrate capacity and in accordance with the cultivation requirements of the plants.
  • Thoroughly mix the peat with the other components.
  • Use the resulting substrate according to the planned method of plant cultivation (including grasses).

Improving soil properties

  • Spread the peat evenly on the soil surface, in the case of heavy soils (clay) in an amount of at least 25 L per 1 m² of surface, and in the case of loose soils (sandy) at least 100 L per 1 m².
  • Mix (dig) the peat into the soil.

Making compost

  • Mix peat with the compost heap in a 1:4 ratio.
  • Cover the top of the composter with a layer of peat, which will reduce unpleasant odors arising during the decomposition of composted materials.
  • Leave to compost for an appropriately long time (from several months to two years).

Recommendations

  • It is recommended not to use previously used substrate as an additive when preparing substrates.
  • Peat does not contain fertilizer, and the amount of nutrients in it is trace and insufficient for plant cultivation. Therefore, when preparing a growing substrate, it is recommended to add fertilizer to the peat and then fertilize the plants. Fertilizers should be used strictly according to the manufacturer's instructions and in accordance with the requirements of the cultivated plants.
  • To permanently improve the soil structure, peat should be added to it regularly every year.

  • The package contains high-quality milled peat.
  • pH: 5.5 - 6.5
