- A new Polish variety of winter wheat, in which positive functional features are accumulated with unprecedented frequency.
The manufacturer is: HR Strzelce
Progress in plant varieties is usually gradual and evolutionary. It is not often that a variety appears on the market that re-evaluates the current perception of the synonym of the best variety. In 2018, something very rare happened - EUFORIA appeared. A new Polish variety of winter wheat, in which positive functional features are accumulated with unprecedented frequency.
First and foremost, EUFORIA yields excellently. In addition, EUFORIA yields high in years with different weather patterns. She was the best in the COBOR experience in 2016, which was characterized by dreams. It was sensational in 2017, which, thanks to the large amount of rainfall and a milder winter, was conducive to record harvests. It was also excellent in the extremely dry year 2018.
This year's EUFORIA plantations also look very competitive compared to other varieties. Such flexible behavior of the variety in different weather years is the result of the appropriate selection of its mother components and a long-term selection process carried out in various weather conditions.
As a variety dedicated to cultivation in Central, Eastern and Northern Europe, EUFORIA must meet high requirements in terms of winter hardiness. After the harsh winter of 2016, COBORU rated the winter hardiness of EUFORIA at 6o, which immediately placed it at the top of the table of winter hardy varieties.
Considering the safety of wheat cultivation more broadly, one should not forget about resistance to fungal diseases. EUPHORIA copes very well with the most important diseases occurring in this species. Especially resistance to stem base diseases should be important for everyone who decides to grow wheat in a defective crop rotation (with cereals dominating).
High resistance to lodging guarantees an efficient harvest, and thanks to its high tolerance to reduced soil pH, EUFORIA reacts with a smaller decrease in yield than varieties sensitive to too acidic soil pH.
The quality of the crop is as important as the yield. High resistance to sprouting of grain in the ear gives the opportunity to obtain good quality parameters even during wet harvest. The very characteristics of the quality features of EUFORIA indicate that we are dealing with wheat that is closer to the highest quality class E (elite) than class A.
The above arguments show that when planning the cultivation of winter wheat, the choice of the EUFORIA variety is an excellent basis for obtaining high yields of very good quality while reducing the risk of freezing, intensification of disease pressure and other unfavorable factors (lodging, grain sprouting, etc.). According to information received from seed companies from all over Poland, the interest in purchasing seeds of this variety is very high and it seems that this year Euforia will be one of the most frequently purchased varieties in the country.
