Description of the variety:
TEMPTATION F1 is a variety proposal resistant to turnip jaundice virus. It has won the trust of growers in various European countries. Plastic variety, it can be grown in weaker to good positions. It perfectly copes with various weather conditions during the growing season. It is distinguished by great vigor in the autumn period. It is a good solution when sowing is delayed. Despite the rapid initial growth, there is no tendency for the growth cone to rise. The resistance to TuYV virus ensures its optimal structure of the leaf rosette and good preparation for wintering. Plants resistant to lodging. An additional feature increasing the technological quality is the high fat content in the seeds. TEMPTATION F1 is a mid-term flowering and maturing variety. At the same time, it is worth paying attention to the very quick filling of the pods, even maturation and quick water release, which facilitates harvesting and reduces the risk of losses.
Turnip jaundice virus what do we know about it?
In recent years, a disease appeared in the fields of rapeseed growers - turnip jaundice virus (Turnip yellows vius, TuYV), which began to cause heavy losses. Plants infected with the virus are characterized by inhibition of growth, fewer side branches and fewer seeds in the pods. The first symptoms of the disease can be seen on the leaves in the fall. Initially, these are bright purple discolorations at the edges of the leaves, which gradually cover the entire leaf blade, but remember that a shortage of nitrogen and phosphorus or a reaction to the applied plant protection products can also cause similar symptoms. The presence of the virus in the plant consequently leads to a loss of yield. This disease is not new, it was diagnosed in the 70 years of the last century. However, it has not been dangerous from an economic point of view so far.
So what has changed that the turnip jaundice virus is causing more and more losses?
The answer is simple, aphids, or virus-transmitting vectors, have appeared on plantations in the last few seasons. Mainly peach aphid and cabbage aphid. The mass appearance of disease vectors (aphids) is a consequence of many factors, mainly the course of the weather. Long, mild winters favor the development of aphids, which feed on plants longer and spread the virus. Moreover, the introduction of a ban on the use of neonicotinoid mortars indirectly influenced the lack of control of the population of these pests.
In order to clearly answer the question whether our plants are infected with the turnip jaundice virus, the serological DAS-ELISA test should be performed. Such a test is performed at the Department of Plant Diseases at the Institute of Plant Protection-National Research Institute in Poznań.
TEMPTATION F1 - the variety works well in various regions of Poland, giving stable and high yields. It perfectly copes with biotic and abiotic stresses. It works well in the conditions of restrictions on the use of fertilizers and plant protection products. Only the best varieties, and such are offered by Rapool breeding, will build biomass and "program" the future yield from the very beginning. In the case of oilseed rape, it should be remembered that already in the autumn, lateral branching buds are formed, and their number depends on the number of leaves in the rosette. The TEMPTATION F1 variety has the TuYV resistance gene, therefore it does not lose energy to fight the virus, but from the very beginning it is focused on creating the foundations of the crop. The research showed that the TEMPTATION F1 variety copes well in various cultivation conditions. Both with intensive and low level of cultivation technology. This makes it an ideal solution for a very wide range of rapeseed growers.
