Pea seeds can contribute to a reduction in feed costs and thus a better profitability of production.

The specificity of the chemical composition of pea seeds makes it suitable for feeding almost all groups of pigs (except for suckling piglets). Of course, depending on the age of the animals, the content of this nutrient in the feed should vary. According to the newest feeding standards for pigs, the share of peas may amount to 5%. in feed for piglets, 10 percent in feed for sows and younger porkers, and 15 percent. in the composition of mixtures intended for the final stage of fattening. Older recommendations, however, provide for even a 30% share of peas in feed for porkers and 20% in mixtures for weaners. It has been shown that feeding low-fertility sows with fodder composed only of grains, peas and premix, gives the same results as feeding this group with a mixture based on soy protein.
